Smile! You are on camera.
Yesterday I made a visit to the Los Angeles County Arboretum in Arcadia. It was another hot (89F) and sunny day, not the most ideal day for photography, but I still had a ton of fun. I took all four of my Lensbaby lenses and I ended up using three of them. I started out with the Burnside 35, switched over to the Velvet 56, and finally used the Sweet 35. Let me take you on a pictorial walk of the arboretum and also give you some of my thoughts about the lenses.
There are lots of different birds at the Arboretum, but what it is most famous for are the peacocks. There are over 200 peafowls leaving on the premises currently. These two were my favorite photographs of them from yesterday, and I prefer the Burnside photo over the Sweet 35.

The Arboretum is huge. Its 127 acres is home to numerous plants and animals, as well as historic buildings. Here is a variety of images portraying the rich flora of the grounds.

During my stay at the gardens I used three Lensbaby lenses, as I have mentioned it before. In my opinion, the Burnside 35 is a great walk-around lens. You cannot zoom with it, but it’s perfect for landscapes, nature, flowers, buildings, etc. Sometimes I prefer the Velvet 56 for flowers, especially, if I want to create dreamy looking pictures. The focusing with the sweet optics is still a bit hard for me, so I don’t use them often. I need more practice with the optics.

The Arboretum is an amazing place; if you get a chance, visit it. You’ll love every minute of it.

  1. I came here because I saw that face in the first flower. A face sticking out its tongue 😉 That’s really great. And I’m thrilled how exactly you document, with which lens you have taken which image – also in other posts!

    Herzliche Grüße

    1. Thank you for visiting Birgit. I didn’t notice the face on the flower until I downloaded the images into my computer. I felt it summarized my day. 🙂
