After dropping off my daughter at school (she has just started as a Freshman), I headed down to the ocean with my camera to take a walk in one of my favorite beach cities, Laguna Beach.
It was pretty early and the city was not as crowded as I experience it most of the time. I grabbed my Lensbaby Burnside 35 for this short walk, and except for the last image, I kept it on my camera.
I couldn’t walk by this beautiful Lily without snapping a picture of it. Then I headed down to the beach.

Smile! You are on camera.
Yesterday I made a visit to the Los Angeles County Arboretum in Arcadia. It was another hot (89F) and sunny day, not the most ideal day for photography, but I still had a ton of fun. I took all four of my Lensbaby lenses and I ended up using three of them. I started out with the Burnside 35, switched over to the Velvet 56, and finally used the Sweet 35. Let me take you on a pictorial walk of the arboretum and also give you some of my thoughts about the lenses.
There are lots of different birds at the Arboretum, but what it is most famous for are the peacocks. There are over 200 peafowls leaving on the premises currently. These two were my favorite photographs of them from yesterday, and I prefer the Burnside photo over the Sweet 35.

The weather finally cooperated and I visited the Buda Castle District to try out the Burnside 35 on my second favorite subject: architecture.
I walked around Matthias Church, Fisherman’s Bastion and the Maria Magdalena Tower. As I had mentioned it in a previous post, I prefer to visit the Castle District in the early hours, before the tourist groups show up. It feels like a very different place when it’s quiet, peaceful, and only a few people (who live there) walk on the streets.

My daughter and I arrived to Hungary a few days ago. We will be visiting friends and family in July, and I will be taking lots of pictures!
We spent the weekend with my brother at the Balaton Lake. The weather wasn’t good enough for the beach, but it was perfect for taking a long walk. We toured the area after a huge thunderstorm.
I used the Burnside 35 exclusively during the walk. Since I had company, I didn’t record all the data for the images, but all of the pictures were taken with F2.8-F5.6 apertures.
For those of you who don’t like to do post processing, I will show the straight out of the camera pictures first, and the second image will have minor edits in Lightroom.

Right before we entered the small forest area, I stopped at this train tunnel. I felt that the topic was perfect for the lens (largest vignette used).

Today was a very hot day, I only had a short, one hour walk in the city. This stretch of the city, from Jászai Mari Square to Blaha Lujza Square houses lots of beautiful, old, stylish buildings. They include the Comedy Theater of Budapest, Western Train Station, and a few hotels. There are also many modern restaurants on this streets, one for every taste.
Enjoy the tour! (Directions and direct link to the gallery under the map.)
