Our family took a short trip to Texas; we visited Austin and San Antonio. I’ve already posted about the best part of San Antonio in my Lensbaby Circle post, but I didn’t have time to show images from Austin. So here we go.

We started out the trip at my husband’s most favorite place in Austin, at Franklin BBQ. This is a very unique diner, where they serve one of the country’s best BBQ. The caveat? You need to wait in line for 3-4 hours to get in the restaurant. The line is a social gathering, with many people visiting from different cities, states or even other countries.

We waited about 3 hours to step into the restaurant, and it took another 20-30 minutes until we could order.

Here is my hubby ordering – he was in heaven. 🙂 He is a great BBQ guy as well.

This is what we ordered – definitely one of the smallest orders in the restaurant. 🙂

And here we are after finishing our first adventure. You can decide if my face says:

  1. “This was awesome!” or
  2. “Am I glad that the wait is over and we can keep going.”, or
  3. both. 🙂

The second adventure was a walk on 6th Street, and visiting some unusual stores. BTW, have I mentioned how hot and humid the weather was? It was great taking breaks to cool off in the stores.

Since our luggage could not fit any large or heavy souvenirs going home, we told our daughter that she needed to find something really small and light if she wanted to get something. And she found just that!

After buying one of these hands she had a lot of fun walking around in the neighborhood and photographing objects.

We visited Lake Travis in the late afternoon. The view from the Oasis Restaurant was awesome, but the food just mediocre.

We visited a few more places in Austin, but the highlight of the trip was kayaking on Ladybird Lake.

Great adventures, (mostly) awesome food, and long-lasting memories. Thank you Austin for having us!
