    Photographic Experiments with Roses

    Welcome to my June 1 Lensbaby Blog Circle post! For this post I used the dried up roses my daughter gave me for Mother’s Day. My goal was to experiment with them and see what I could create. I set a few limitations for myself:

    1. I would only use Lensbaby lenses (since I was shooting for this post)
    2. I would only use natural light and some light modifiers – light reflectors, light softeners and flags (these add shadow)
    3. I would take all the photos from a tripod

    Two Flowers from the Backyard

    Today I have two images to share with you; both taken in my backyard. The top one is a Blue Hibiscus, and the bottom one is a Dahlia. I used the Lensbaby Twist 60 for both with a +4 macro filter on. Enjoy!

    The Lily That Keeps Giving

    I posted about the lilies my husband gave me on the 11th. Well, this bouquet of flowers just keeps giving. It opened its last bud today, and it is wonderfully fragrant too. I took a few more macro images of it with my Lensbaby Twist 60. This is one of them.

    Anniversary Lilies

    Today my husband surprised me with a gorgeous bouquet of lilies. It was an anniversary present; we met 18 years ago today, on a very snowy day in Denver, when the power was out in many homes. But we had a wonderful first date at the local On the Border restaurant. My lucky day…

    I used the Lensbaby Twist 60 for all images, but the second two were done with macro lenses. (more…)
